Who We Are

Asian Adoptees of Canada is a national Canadian registered non-profit organization, established for the purpose of connecting and supporting Canada’s Asian adoptee community. While this current iteration of AAC was officially founded in early 2021, its initial inception was in 2007 as the Asian Adult Adoptees of BC ("Triple ABC"). AAC is proud to be managed by a team of Canadian Asian adoptees and look forward to continuing to support the broader Asian adoptee community.

The Role

Asian Adoptees of Canada is seeking a volunteer Treasurer to support the financial stewardship of a growing national community organization. This role is well suited for someone with experience or interest in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping who would like to contribute their skills in a meaningful way. The selected candidate will oversee the organization’s financial affairs, including budgeting, financial planning, reporting, and auditing.

Responsibilities

  • Identify funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, partnerships, and community fundraising initiatives, and support systems for receiving and tracking donations.

  • Maintain accurate financial records, track organizational expenses, and support budgeting and financial planning.

  • Support the organization’s transition from nonprofit to charitable status by organizing financial documentation and reporting requirements.

  • Assist with financial reporting, auditing preparation, and compliance with applicable nonprofit and charitable regulations, including an annual internal financial review

  • Communicate financial information clearly to board members and other stakeholders.

  • Work independently and collaboratively with board members in a virtual environment to support the organization’s financial management.

  • Attend monthly virtual board meetings as needed
