Case 84: Adopted in the U.S.A.

About the show:

New York City based storyteller, comedian, and AAPI activist Edward Yoo Pokropski has been touring, Case 84: Adopted in the U.S.A. around the U.S. for the past two years. He is making his Canadian debut at Comedy Bar! A comedy show meets a TED Talk, Case 84 sheds light on the underrepresented experience of adoptees. Over the course of an hour and aided by visuals ranging from family photos to images of Superman, Edward answers all the questions he gets about being adopted.

Case 84 has toured in NYC, Philly, Ithaca, Boston, D.C., Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis, LA, Austin and San Fran. Case 84 is a show for anyone who has struggled with identity or just feels like people misunderstand where they come from. It is an immersive journey through Edward's experience growing up in Philadelphia as a transracial adoptee and touches on the influence of Western media on identity, complex family dynamics, and ultimately what it means to be an American. There are silly, introspective, and also painful moments in the show. As Edward's journey unfolds, viewers have the opportunity to learn alongside him, gaining insights into the challenges faced by adoptees and the power of self-discovery. This show is a love letter to adoptees and an invitation for all to learn more about us.

About Edward:

Edward is a two-time Emmy nominated Senior Writer/Producer for Cable Entertainment Brand Creative at NBCUniversal. He is also a Co-Founder of The Asian Comedy Fest. The largest, longest running Asian led comedy fest in the U.S.

Korean BBQ Dinner

Join us in welcoming a leader and advocate in the Adoptee Community, Pastor Kim.

Pastor Kim has been an advocate for adoptees and thought leader for over 20 years. During this time, he also managed Koroot, which was a hostel specifically for adoptees visiting Seoul, South Korea. He's helped countless adoptees not only by providing refuge and a home while overseas, but also in their birth searches and teaching us traditions that we'd either long forgotten, or never had the chance to learn. 📜

For those who may be located downtown and need a ride, please simply let me know and we can arrange carpool options.
